The Switch to Matcha

We are avid coffee drinkers! Well, WERE avid coffee drinkers. All day we are sipping on coffee, sometimes when we get home we make a pot of coffee and drink it until we go to bed. No it doesn’t keep us up, we just need that fix! When we would go a day without coffee, we’d get these HORRIBLE headaches! Yeah… that’s kind of a problem! So recently, we have switched to matcha lattes!! Have you ever had the matcha ice water from Starbucks? They’re pretty good! And CHEAP! But, that isn’t “real” matcha.

Matcha definition:

“Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. It is special in two aspects of farming and processing: the green tea plants for matcha are shade-grown for about three weeks before harvest, and the stems and veins are removed in processing”

It’s not the greatest smelling stuff, but if you make it right, it is so delicious!
We follow a bunch of recipe pages on Instagram and came across this yummy recipe! After researching the products a little, we found certain ones that work just for us 🙂 see below.

Sweet Matcha Tea Powder: when you drink matcha, you ingest the entire leaf and receive 100% of the nutrients of the leaf. You can use matcha Powder for just about anything, desserts, pastries, smoothies, etc.

Healthworks Maca Powder: Maca Powder is used to increase energy, stamina, helps improve sexual function and is also good for your hair and skin!

4th and Heart Ghee Butter (vanilla bean): This is naturally packed with vitamins! It is good for weight loss, your digestive track and I even read that it helps make beautiful babies lol.

Sports Research Collagen Peptides: Collagen peptides is and important nutrient needed to maintain strong bones and healthy joints. You can mix it in with just about anything!

(ALMOST boiled unsweetened almond milk and water. Plus cinnamon and vanilla extract to taste.)

Even though we have only been drinking this for a week, we can already tell a difference! The cravings for coffee aren’t here, we don’t feel “sluggish”… I guess what we (mostly me, Andrew is just going along with it!) want to accomplish is the not NEEDING coffee. Not waking up and thinking “I need coffee before you talk to me or before I can function” so join us on our journey! We will keep you updated 🙂
